Ka’ena Point Mokuleia

Ka’ena Point Trail is located on the north western tip of Oahu and a popular place for locals to hike for its unique picture perfect scenic views. It features two trail heads from Waianae in west Oahu and one from Mokuleia. It’s a beautiful location and is known in ancient Hawaiian folklore as the “jump-off” point for souls leaving the world.

Driving from Honolulu to the trails can take a minimum of an hour. The weather in this location can be hot and dry so it’s a good idea to bring water, snacks, and sunscreen.

Ka’ena Point features a hiking trail, a beach lined with lava rocks, and a dry grass meadow which are beautiful settings for engagement photos. It’s also important to wear shoes suitable for walking and hiking. If you would like to wear heels, you can bring them in a bag and change into them for photos.

Ka’ena Point is a beautiful spot if you are looking a place with slight greenery, beach, and mountains that is somewhat remote, secluded, and without much foot traffic.

To get to these photography shooting locations , you simply park your vehicle at the entrance of the hike near the beach side. Walk up the trail about 5 minutes. These shooting locations are easy to miss so you will know you are there by looking for a flat open area just a few minutes into the trail.

One thing to keep in mind is that the beach is not safe for swimming as no rescue personnel are present and there are hazardous ocean conditions such as undertows and rip currents.
